"Campbell's work is strangely intoxicating and provocative yet hangs heavy with an uneasy 'rotting meat in the basement' feel.....
His is a world where the dresser drawer's 'suicide revolver' is always loaded and at the ready."
-Spastic Culture Magazine

Kalynn Campbell, a Los Angeles painter and illustrator, is one of the early artists in the 'Lowbrow' art movement. He began showing his work in the early 1990s in Los Angeles at the seminal ZERO ONE GALLERY on Melrose and continues to work and show in Southern California. His work has been described as "...puzzle-like paintings that incorporate text, representational imagery done in a retro blockhead illustrational style, narrative, and numerous pop culture references.". ART? ALTERNATIVES magazine called his work "American Hieroglyphics" and JUXTAPOZ Magazine said,"THERE'S MONOPOLY, PARCHEESI, AND LIFE, AND THEN THERE ARE KALYNN CAMPBELL'S PAINTINGS. DON'T CONFUSE THE TWO."

Campbell's work has been featured in over 6 Museum shows including the pivotal Multi City KUSTOM KULTURE show, The Colorado POP SURREALISM show and the
Los Angeles 100 ARTISTS SEE SATAN show.
He has been featured in several Books, among them are POP SURREALISM by Kristin Anderson and WEIRDO DELUXE by Mat Dukes Jordan.
Collectors include Actor Nicolas Cage, Rocker Eric Burden, Singer Pink and Simpson's voice man Harry Shearer.
His illustration work has been utilized by a virtual WHO'S WHO in Rock Music, from The Smashing Pumpkins and Megadeth to Tom Petty.
